Physical education can be dubbed PE, gym, phys ed, fun, or torture, but in the end it still is the same subject. PE is taught to students from first grade to high school and is required in some colleges. Not only does PE teach you about different sports, it encourages good sportsmanship, teaches teamwork, improves physical fitness, and encourages exercising to stay healthy. Anyways, after sitting in a desk all day at school, it’s a good thing to get up and be able to run around. Students that take PE usually exercise and play sports inside a gym or in a field outside. Some popular sports that are played in gym are basketball, baseball, soccer, and volleyball. Some schools require students to wear gym uniforms, but most schools require a uniform in middle school and up only. Students are given locker rooms to change, and they have a small locker to put their regular clothes and shoes. A usual middle school gym class would be change into the gym uniform, line up for an attendance check, warm-up, start the activity, change back into regular clothes, and then wait for the bell to ring to go to the next class.
